I know that paying for ringtones and downloading them from websites can be annoying... I hate it when you find a ringtone that you think you will like and its the part of the song that you like the least. Just by following these easy steps, you will be able to make your own ringtones from the song of your choice and the part of the song that you choose.
Step 1:
Decide what song you want as your ringtone and make it a file on your computer. If the song is a wave file then proceed to step 3, and if the song is an mp3 then proceed to step 2.
Creative samplesStep 2:
If the song is an mp3 format then you must decode it using and mp3 decoder. Search for a free mp3 decoder and download one. There are several out there and you need a decoder that simply turns mp3 files into wave files. Once you have downloaded the decoder, open your song file on the decoder and decode it to a wave file.
Step 3:
Once you have a wave file you must cut the file down to the part of the song that you want to be a ringtone. Simply go to your Start menu on your computer, and go to Accessories, Entertainment, and then Sound Recorder and open it. Then open your wave file in Sound Recorder. You can then play the song to the point where you want to start your ringtone and select Edit and Delete Before Current Position. This will delete the song up to this point. Play the file until you want your ringtone to stop and select Delete After Current Position. This will delete the rest of the song, leaving you with only your own ringtone. You will want to save this as a different name like adding "cut" to the end so that you dont save this over your full song.
Step 4:
After you have cut your ringtone and saved it as a file, there are several ways you can go here. Depending on your phone model, you may have to download Cool Edit Pro and re-format the cut file from 16 bit down to 8 bit and from stereo to mono. This is basically making the size of the ringtone file smaller. Your phone may not require this so a little investigating on your phone model will be helpful.
Step 5:
You must search for a loader like Webjal that will load your ringtone that you have made to your phone. You can search through different forums like howardforums.com and find loaders that people are using and download them for free. Once you have your loader downloaded, you should be able to transfer your personalized ringtone to your phone through a USB cable and enjoy.
I hope this helps you out. I know this is a little vague in areas but with so many different types of phones out there, I can't list every step for every phone. I have tried to make the process as simple as possible. I can now make my own personalized ringtones in under 2 minutes and its absolutely free!
